This specimen was lot 2056 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €200 (about US$270 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIEN, VENEDIG, Paolo Renier, 1779-1789. 1/4 Tallero 1781. Prägung für die Levante. Sehr schön +. (republic of Venice, Paolo Renier, 1779-89, quarter tallero of 1781, struck for trade with the Levant. Very fine or better.)"
This very scarce type was struck 180-81 and 1786 and was accompanied by one-eighth, one half and one tallero (Dav-1568).
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 6.9 g, 0.835 fine silver, .185 troy oz ASW.
