This specimen was lot 2643 in Ponterio sale 164 (New York, January 2012), where it sold for $747.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Venice, 30 Soldi. 1751. Pietro Grimani (1741-52). 2 small edge flaws, toned with underlying luster. Very attractive. CHOICE ALMOST UNCIRCULATED." This coin is listed in the SCWC as a lirazza. Six dates are known between 1722 and 1752. By this period, Venice was a ghost of her former power, surviving only on the sufferance of her Austrian and Turkish neighbors.
