This specimen was lot 3439 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it sold for 220 CHF (about US$272 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Domenico Contarini, 1659-1675 Ducato nuovo o. J. Mmz. MM. Sehr schön. (Italy, republic of Venice, Domenico Contarini, 1659-75, undated new silver ducat, mintmaster MM. Very fine.)"
This denomination was introduced in 1663 with this issue and superseded the ducato mozzo of 120 soldi and the ducatone of 124 soldi. It has a face value of ninety soldi. The coin does not bear a date but can be dated to 1663 by the mintmaster's initials ("MM", for Marino da Molin). The type is known for 1663-73. The silver scudo of 140 soldi continued in production.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 23.4 g, .826 fine silver, .621 troy oz ASW; this specimen 22.54 g.
