This specimen was lot 46184 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $115. The catalog description[1] noted, "VENEZUELA. 50 Bolivares, 2010. NGC PROOF-69 Ultra Cameo. Struck for the 70th Anniversary of the Central Bank. An attractive Proof with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." In 2005, the currency was reformed, such that 1000 old bolivares were now one bolivar, and fractionals thereof were now centimos again. The reform did not deal with the underlying issues of corruption, governmental incompetence and falling oil prices, and so inflation continued. This NCLT was also struck in silver along with another struck in nickel plated steel.

Recorded mintage: 1,500.

Specification: 31.10 g, 0.999 fine gold, 32 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-Y101.
