This specimen was lot 44051 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $690. The catalog description[1] noted, "VENEZUELA. 50 Bolivares, 1990. NGC PROOF-69 ULTRA CAMEO. Struck for the 50th Anniversary of the Central Bank of Venezuela. Virtually flawless, exhibiting hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." The SCWC lists two fifty bolivares for 1990; one (KM Y66) a one ounce gold coin, the other (KM Y67, shown here) a half ounce. The catalog shows no photo of the one ounce version so we don't know if it actually exists. This was struck in Caracas.
Recorded mintage: 5,000 proofs.
Specification: 15.55 g, 0.900 fine gold.
Catalog reference: Fr-15; Y-67.
