Stack's Bowers 2021 ANA sale, lot 41642

This specimen was lot 41642 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "VENEZUELA. 20 Bolivares, 1880. Brussels Mint. NGC AU-55. Lightly circulated, yet displaying significant remaining luster and few marks over the surfaces. A SCARCE date in this quality." This type was struck 1879-80, 1886-88, 1904-05, 1910-12 at various mints. Altho no individual date has a large mintage, the type is common.

Recorded mintage: 84,000 (all varieties).

Specification: 6.4516 g, 0.900 fine gold, 0.1867 oz AGW (same standard as a French twenty francs or).
