This specimen was lot 10763 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $822. The catalog description[1] noted, "VENEZUELA. 2 Bolivars, 1879. Brussels Mint. Scarce date. A couple old light scratches subdued by toning. EXTREMELY FINE." This Brussels mint issue was accompanied by silver half, one and five bolivares and gold twenty bolivares. Coinage would be minted to this standard until 1936 but the early dates are generally rare.
