This specimen was lot 76035 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Utrecht. Ducaton (Silver Rider), 1665. Utrecht Mint. NGC AU Details--Salt Water Damage. Ex: Hollandia shipwreck, sunk in 1743 in the Isles of Scilly in the Celtic Sea, off the coast of Cornwall." This specimen is one of a type issued for the province of Utrecht 1659-76; this date is noted as better. Each province of the Netherlands issued its own coins; besides Utrecht, there are coins for Deventer, Friesland, Gelderland, Groningen, Holland, Overijssel, West Friesland and Zeeland, not counting various local issues.
