Jean Elsen sale 162, lot 1170

This specimen was lot 1170 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €200 (about US$277 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"NEDERLAND, UTRECHT, Provincie, AR Nederlandse rijksdaalder, 1622. Vz/ Geharnast bb. r. met zwaard en provinciewapen. Kz/ Gekroond Generaliteitswapen. Krasjes. Donkere patina. (Netherlands, province of Utrecht, Netherlands rijksdaalder of 1622. Obverse: armored bust right with sword and provincial arms; reverse: crowned arms of the Generality. Scratches, dark patina, Very Fine.)"

This type was struck intermittently 1591-1600, 1606-25, 1629-31, 1648, 1652 and 1687-88. This date is fairly common. The SCWC alleges that proofs exist.
