This type was struck in 1977-81 at Santiago, Chile. Uruguayan coinage was sporadic in the twentieth century and many issues are rare; this one is common. Uruguay fell victim to the same hyperinflation which befell her neighbors Argentina and Brazil and the coinage was reformed twice, in 1975 and 1994.
Recorded mintage: 15,300,000.
