Uruguay 1953 2 centesimos

This type was struck in 1953 only at Santiago, Chile. It replaced a copper type issued 1943-51. Uruguayan coinage was sporadic in the early twentieth century and many issues are rare; this one is common. There are a similar five and ten centésimos (KM 34, KM 39).

Recorded mintage: 50,000,000.

Specification: 2.5 g, copper-nickel, 17 mm diameter.
