This type was struck in 1941 at Santiago, Chile. It is the last date of the type; in 1943, the Santiago mint began producing copper coins of this denomination. Other dates, such as 1901, 1909 and 1936, were struck at Paris. Uruguayan coinage was sporadic in the early twentieth century and many issues are rare; this one is common. There are similar one and five centésimos (KM 20, KM 21).
Recorded mintage: 10,000,000.
Specification: 3.5 g, copper-nickel.
