This specimen was lot 40813 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "URUGUAY. 20 Centisimos, 1840. NGC MS-62. Well struck and very high grade for issue." This scarce issue, heavier than a silver eight reales, is normally found worn and with multiple rim bumps. This is among the first coins of Uruguay, which obtained its independence in 1830.

Recorded mintage: 2,125 (a misprint for 2,125,000?).
