Altho the United States cent has a proud history going back to 1793, it is now worth so little that its continued production is undertaken mostly to keep the unionized employees of the mint busy. The Union shield reverse has been in use since 2010.
Recorded mintage: 645,200,000 plus 655,200,000 from Philadelphia plus 304,725 from San Francisco.
Specification: 2.5 g, copper-plated zinc, 19.08 mm diameter.
