The cent issues of 2009 were devoted to four designs commemorating various stages in the life of Abraham Lincoln. The 2010 cent begins a new regular issue featuring a restored bust of Lincoln on the obverse and the "shield" reverse. Altho rumors circulated that the new cent was to be copper-plated steel, the specimen shown here is not magnetic, suggesting that the previous copper-plated zinc is still in use.
Recorded mintage: 1,963,630,000.
Specification: 2.5 g, copper-plated zinc, 19 mm diameter, plain edge.
Catalog reference: KM 468.
