This coin was issued to honor the tercentenary of the founding of York County, Maine. The original issue price was $1.50 plus postage, and the York County Tercentenary Commission managed to sell 25,000 of the 30,000 authorized. Most survivors are in high grade.
Recorded Mintage: 25,015.
Specification: 192.9 grains = 12.50 grams, 0.900 fine silver, 30.6 mm diameter, reeded edge. Designed by Walter H. Rich. The obverse features the original fort in York County, Brown's Garrison. The reverse shows the county seal.
