This coin was issued to honor the centennial of the organization of Wisconsin territory. The original sale price was $1.50 each plus postage. The issue did not sell out until the 1950's.
Recorded Mintage: 25,015.
Specification: 192.9 grains = 12.50 grams, 0.900 fine silver, 30.6 mm diameter, reeded edge. Designed by David Parsons and engraved by Benjamin Hawkins. The obverse features a badger on a log, with arrows symbolizing the Black Hawk War of the 1830's. The reverse shows a miner's arm holding a pickaxe over a mound of lead ore, taken from the territorial seal.
