United States 1806 quarter dollar

from the Mountain Groan Collection

This quarter is one of a type issued at Philadelphia 1804-07. It was superseded by the Liberty Cap quarter, struck intermittently 1815-28. The mint made little attempt to issue large quantities of quarters in its early years, as Mexican two reales circulated freely.
