United States 1796 half dime

This type was struck at the Philadelphia mint 1796-97 only. It is the second half dime issued by the United States Mint. However, tho it is expensive, it is not rare; hundreds are known to exist. The next issue of draped bust half dimes was in 1800 and used the large eagle reverse. The large eagle reverse is only slightly more available than the small eagle reverse.
