Ulm 1704 gulden KM-90
This specimen was lot 22743 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Ulm. Gulden, 1704. PCGS AU-50 Secure Holder. Struck on square silver Klippe. Evenly struck and nicely detailed with light to medium gray color over both sides. Better than most examples that appear on the market. From the John Whitney Walter Collection. Ex: Coin Galleries auction, April 12, 2000." This is one of a series of siege issues (KM 87 thru 97) issued in 1704. The regular issues of this imperial city in the eighteenth century are scanty and include no large silver coins beloved of collectors. The town was annexed to Bavaria in 1803 but passed to Wurttemberg in 1809, where we have filed it.
