This specimen was lot 791 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "TYROL: Maximilian Josef I, 1805-1814, AE kreuzer, 1809, Insurrection coinage, Andreas Hofer issuer, traces of mint red, one-year type, PCGS graded AU58." This was minted at Hall by Tyrolean rebels against Napoleon, who had forced Austria to cede the Tyrol to Bavaria. The revolt received no support from Vienna and was eventually crushed and Hofer was executed. No regular Austrian kreuzer were struck after 1800 (KM 2111) until 1812 (KM 2112).
