Tuscany 1806 lira
This specimen was lot 1702 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$363 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIEN Toskana, Carlo Ludovico di Borbone, König von Etruria, mit seiner Mutter Maria Luigia, 1803-1807. 1 Lira 1806, Firenze. Vorzüglich. Italy, kingdom of Etruria, Charles Louis of Bourbon, with his mother Maria Luisa, 1803-07, lira of 1806, Florence mint. Extremely Fine.)"
This scarce type was struck previously in 1803 (C47.1). Charles Louis was a grandson of Charles IV of Spain. He was king of Etruria (one of Napoleon's puppet states) 1803-07, duke of Lucca 1824-47 and duke of Parma 1847-49, after which he lived in exile as a private citizen, dying in 1883.
