Tuscany 1635 piastre Dav-4202
This specimen was lot 2015 in Sincona sale 94 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 2,400 CHF (about US$3,327 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIEN Toskana, Ferdinando II. de Medici, 1621-1670. Piastra 1635, Firenze. Selten. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung. (Italy, grand duchy of Tuscany, Ferdinand II of Medici, 1621-70, piastre of 1635, Florence mint. Rare. NGC AU58, Extraordinary condition.)"
This type is listed for 1635, 1638, 1642, 1645 and 1649. The SCWC has not assigned a KM number, using the Davenport number instead. The very similar Dav-4201 has the date on the obverse only. The duchy was quite impoverished by this period, a result of warfare and economic decline, and her coinage is scanty.
