This specimen was lot 72663 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2022), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKS & CAICOS ISLANDS. 50 Crowns, 1976. Ottawa Mint. Elizabeth II. NGC MS-69. Struck to commemorate the bicentennial of the United States of America. A nearly flawless coin with an impressive thick satin finish that remains constant through the fields and over the designs." Another scarce NCLT from a forgotten corner of the Caribbean. Coinage from there is nearly exclusively NCLT's as the economy is dominated by American cruise ships and the dollars they bring.

Recorded mintage: 905 plus 2,421 proofs.

Specification: 6.22 g, 0.500 fine gold, 0.100 troy oz AGW.
