This specimen was lot 58575 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY. Ottoman Empire. 40 Para, AH 1255 Year 20 (1858). Istanbul (Constantinople) Mint. Abdulmejid I. AU-58." This type was struck years 17 thru 23 and has a low catalog value except for the rare year 23. The copper forty para (= one kurush) was abandoned after this issue. When the forty para was revived in 1910, it was a nickel coin.
