This specimen was lot 39777 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY. 100 Kurush, 1969. Istanbul Mint. PCGS MS-64." This monnaie de luxe was struck 1942-2021 for use in jewelry. It is wider and thinner than the hundred kurush struck for bullion. The style recalls the elaborate calligraphy found on old Ottoman gold coins. It is not known circulated. While this coin has an exalted value in the SCWC, it normally trades for its bullion value, as here.
