Turkey 1953 100 kurush
This specimen was lot 75493 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY. 100 Kurush, 1953. Istanbul Mint. PCGS MS-63. Monnaie de Luxe issue. A highly embellished obverse boasts smooth, frosty surfaces on and around Ataturk's portrait. The reverse is brilliant, bordering on prooflike, with bright, singular flashes emanating from the fields. Stellar eye appeal is present for the Choice grade level." This type was struck 1942-2010. The early dates from the fifties may have circulated a little but the more recent dates were struck for bullion or jewelry use.
