Steve Album sale 51, lot 1444

This specimen was lot 1444 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $510. The catalog description[1] noted, "TUNISIA: French Protectorate, AR 10 francs, AH1357 (1938), key date, Paris mint, a charming mint state example, PCGS graded MS63." This type was struck in Paris AH 1353-1358 for the puppet regime in Tunisia. The AH 1353 is the only date that circulated; the others were struck only for presentation. The Nazi occupation during World War Two disrupted French colonial rule and in 1956, Tunisia obtained her independence.

Recorded mintage: unknown but few.
