Sincona sale 31, lot 43

This specimen was lot 43 in Sincona sale 31 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$416 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "OTTOMAN TUNIS | Abdul Hamid I (1187-1203ah/1774-1789ce) riyal 1197ah (1784ce) Bi rare grade superb xf." This type was struck AH 1188-1202 in the name of Abdul Hamid I in Constantinople. It is very rare in nice condition. Sixteen kharub made a piastre or riyal, the largest silver coin issued in Tunisia in the eighteenth century.
