Sincona sale 31, lot 352

This specimen was lot 352 in Sincona sale 31 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 900 CHF (about US$1,068 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "REPUBLIC OF TUNISIA, 10 dinars 1982ce/1402ah AU 725 French legend Pf." This type was struck in small numbers 1967-82 with Arabic (KM 332) and French legends. It is unlikely to have circulated beyond the president's circle of cronies and supporters. It is rare but inexpensive because of low demand.

Recorded mintage: 725 proofs.

Specification: 18.77 g, 0.900 fine gold, .539 troy oz AGW, this specimen 18.84 g.

Catalog reference: KF 120, KM 331.
