Trier 1715 thaler Dav-2825
This specimen was lot 2369 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €2,600 (about US$3,682 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · TRIER, ERZBISTUM Sedisvakanz, 1715-1716. Reichstaler 1715. RR Leicht justiert, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, archbishopric of Trier, sede vacante, thaler of 1715. Very rare, lightly adjusted, about extremely fine.)"
Two thalers, Dav-2823 and Dav-2824, marked the death of archbishop Karl Joseph Anton Johann Ignaz Felix von Lothringen in December 1715 while this is a sede vacante issue, struck by the cathedral chapter before his successor Franz Ludwig von Pfalz-Neuburg was elected in February 1716.
