The first specimen was lot 12296 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $646. The catalog description[1] noted, "TRANSYLVANIA. 1/4 Ducat, 1749. NGC AU-58. Maria Theresa & Francis I (1745-65). Demarete Collection." The second specimen was lot 990 in Sincona sale 54 (Zürich, May 2019), where it sold for 650 CHF (about US$774 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. 1/4 Dukat 1749, Karlsburg. Vorzüglich-FDC. (kingdom of Hungary, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, quarter ducat of 1749, Karlsburg mint. Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"

This type was issued the one year only. The next quarter ducat, dated 1768, used an older bust of the empress. Half ducats, ducats and double ducats were also minted in Transylvania in the 1740's.

Specification: .875 g, 0.986 fine gold, the second specimen 0.85 g.
