Tournai 1649 gigot
This specimen was lot 1493 in Jean Elsen sale 155 (Brussels, June 2023), where it sold for €190 (about US$249 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"TOURNAI, Seigneurie, Philippe IV (1621-1665), Cu gigot, 1649. D/ Croix de Bourgogne sous une couronne, accostée de la date. R/ Ecu couronné. Très rare. Très Beau. (lordship of Tournai, Philip IV, 1621-66, copper gigot of 1649. Obverse: Burgundian cross under a crown dividing the date; reverse: crowned arms. Very rare, very Fine.)"
A gigot was half a liard and this coin is catalogued as a half liard in the SCWC. It was struck 1638-40, 1646-59 and is scarce in nice condition.
