Jean Elsen sale 145, lot 1702

This specimen was lot 1702 in Jean Elsen sale 145 (Brussels, September 2020), where it sold for €100 (about US$143 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"TOURNAI, Seigneurie, Albert et Isabelle (1598-1621), AR patagon, 1620. D/ Croix de Bourgogne sous une couronne, portant le bijou de la Toison d'or. R/ Ecu couronné, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. Très Beau. (lordship of Tournai, Albert and Isabella, 1598-1621, silver patagon of 1620. Obverse: crowned Burguendian cross, bearing the jewel of the GOlden Fleece; reverse: crowned arms, Order of the Golden Fleece around. Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1616-21 and undated. This type was issued for Albert and Isabella, regents for the Spanish Netherlands until 1621. Similar coins were minted in Flanders (Dav-4435) and Brabant (Dav-4432). Later patagons (Dav-4470) were issued in the name of Philip IV.
