This specimen was lot 75593 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "TOGO. Silver 10000 Francs, 1977. PCGS PROOF-66 Deep Cameo. Lovely reflective fields and frosty devices. Mintage was a scant 150 pieces." This rare coin was accompanied by silver 5000 francs and gold 15,000, 25,000 and 50,000 francs. It is unlikely to have circulated outside the circle of the president's relatives and cronies. The president, having seized power in 1967, survived coups and assassination attempts to rule until his death in 2005.
