Thailand BE2517 100 baht
This specimen was part of lot 31260 in Heritage sale 3081 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $9,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Thailand: Rama IX 3-Piece gold & silver Proof "Conservation" Set BE 2517 (1974), 1) "Sumatran Rhinoceros" 50 Baht, 2) "Brown-Antlered Deer" 100 Baht, KM-Y103a; 3) gold "White-Eyed River Martin" 5000 Baht - PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC, KM-Y104; Amongst the most popular sets in the entire Conservation series, particularly for the 5000 Baht here presented in exceptional PR69 preservation with a pristine layer of frost to the devices." This NCLT (non-circulating legal tender) coin promotes wildlife conservation and the World Wildlife Fund. It was sold in sets with a silver fifty baht (KM Y102) and gold 5000 baht (KM Y104). The uncirculated issue was struck in billon (KM Y103) and the proofs struck in sterling silver (KM Y103a, shown here).
Recorded mintage: 20,351 plus 9,294 proofs.
Specification: 31.65 g, 0.500 fine silver. Proofs were struck in 0.925 fine silver.
