This specimen was lot 73324 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "THAILAND. 50 Baht, BE 2514 (1971). NGC MS-68. Commemorating the Buddhist fellowship, this incredible Gem crown presents supremely argent surfaces with a delightful matte nature, and is exceeded in the NGC census by just three examples." This was the first coin of this denomination, which has been used occasionally since for NCLT's.
Recorded mintage: 200,000 plus 60,000 proofs.
Specification: 24.70 g, 0.900 fine silver, 0.714 troy oz ASW, 40 mm diameter.
