This specimen was lot 35175 in Heritage sale 3094 (Chicago, August 2021), where it sold for $5,760. The catalog description[1] noted, "Thailand. Rama IV Baht ND (1860) MS64 NGC, A stunning representative from a series popular for its utilization of the elephant motif, and one that rarely comes this well struck, where even the details to the peripheries are fully rendered. Near-gem with ample swirling luster that becomes prohibitively difficult to locate finer." This design was used on a salung (quarter baht, Y9), double salung (half baht, Y10.1) and double baht (Y12). This example realized seventeen times the catalog value.
