This specimen was lot 74810 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Puebla. Tetela del Oro y Ocampo. 2 Centavos, 1915. NGC MS-64 Red Brown. Variety without inner circle on either side. This pleasing near-Gem offers a chocolatey red-brown allure and a solid strike overall for the type." This enigmatic type was issued from the village of Tetela del Oro y Ocampo in Puebla, most likely by the Zapatistas. There is also a large size version (20 mm diameter, KM 760) which is rather scarcer.
