This specimen was lot 1582 in Goldberg sale 128 (Los Angeles, June 2022), where it sold for $2,220. The catalog description[1] noted, "Tanzania. 5,000 Shilingi, 2014. 'Serengeti Lion'. Finest grade possible and struck in high relief. NGC graded Proof 70 Ultra Cameo." The second specimen was lot 33692 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[2] noted, "TANZANIA. 5000 Shillings, 2014. NGC PROOF-70 Ultra Cameo. Big 5, high relief variety. A flawless Gem, this specimen offers rich contrast between the highly mirrored fields and heavily frosted devices."
