Switzerland 1967-B 5 francs
This specimen was lot 23650 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. 5 Francs, 1967-B. NGC MS-63. Type II Variety. A well struck coin with full cartwheel luster. The single finest graded of this edge variety at NGC." This type was struck at the Bern mint 1931-40, 1948-54, 1965-69. The design is still in use today tho the coin is now copper-nickel. Many of the dates from the twentieth century are very common. Prior to confederation in 1850, each Swiss canton issued its own coins.
Recorded mintage: 13,817,000 plus specimens, the most common date.
Specification: 15 g, .835 fine silver, .402 troy oz ASW, 31.45 mm diameter, lettered edge.
