Sincona sale 97, lot 3582

This specimen was lot 3582 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$232 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Eidgenossenschaft, 20 Rappen 1959 B, Bern. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Das neben einem weiteren durch NGC höchstbewertete Exemplar. (confederation of Switzerland, twenty rappen of 1959, Bern mint. Very rare in this condition. NGC MS67. Tied with one other for finest certified by NGC.)"

This type was struck 1881-1938 with no change in design. In 1939, the coin was converted to copper-nickel and is still in production in that form.

Recorded mintage: 10,136,000, a common date.

Specifications: 4 g, copper-nickel, 21.05 mm diameter, plain edge.
