Switzerland 1911-B 10 francs
This specimen was lot 3829 in Sincona sale 70 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$658 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Confederation. 10 Franken 1911 B, Bern. PCGS MS64. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung. (Switzerland, ten francs of 1911, Bern mint. Choice uncirculated, Extraordinary condition.)"
This Swiss ten francs conforms to the standard of the Latin Monetary Union, where twenty francs = 6.45 g, 0.900 fine gold. Switzerland continued to use this standard even after France, its originator, abandoned it after World War One. This type was struck 1911-16 and 1922; only the 1922 is common.
