This specimen was lot 34565 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Confederation 1 Franc 1880-B MS62 NGC. Well struck, with gray-gold patina and light handling marks. A very scarce issue in Mint State." This is a better date but not the key. The type was struck 1875-1968. Prior to confederation in 1850, each Swiss canton issued its own coins.
Recorded mintage: 944,000.
Specification: 5 g, 0.835 fine silver, 23.2 mm diameter.
