This specimen was lot 25013 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $528. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Zug. 5 Francs, 1869. NGC MS-63. Struck to commemorate the shooting festival in Zug. Sharply struck with just a light veneer of tone. Brilliant and quite attractive. Ex: Stack's Bowers & Ponterio 06/2011 sale, lot# 8559." Confederation coinage commenced in 1850; prior to that, each canton struck its own coinage. In 1931, the five francs was reduced to 15 grams, 0.835 fine, and struck in that form until 1969. This coin issued for the shooting festival in Zug is on the border between medal and coin and has been in and out of the SCWC.

Recorded mintage: 6,000 plus a few specimens.

Specification: 25 g, 0.835 fine silver.
