Sincona sale 83, lot 5212

This specimen was lot 5212 in Sincona sale 83 (Zürich, May 2023), where it sold for 60 CHF (about US$80 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND, 20 Rappen 1859 B, Bern. NGC MS62." This type was struck 1850-51 at Strasbourg and 1858-59 at Bern. When the twenty rappen was resumed in 1881, it was a nickel coin.

Recorded mintage: 2,775,965, the most common date.
