This specimen was lot 3172 in Goldberg sale 98 (Los Angeles, June 2017), where it sold for $293.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Sweden. 50 Ore, 1920-W. Gustav V, 1907-1950. Oval O. First year of the new type. Sharply struck brilliant Gem Uncirculated. Scarce this nice. NGC graded MS-65." Sweden issued the fifty ore denomination in silver until 1939 but on several occasions, when the issue of silver seemed inadvisable, this type was substituted. Known dates include 1920-21, 1924, 1940 and 1946-47. Silver was deleted completely in 1962.
