The first specimen was lot 31043 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $528.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Gustaf V Proof 50 Ore 1912-W, PR67 NGC. Brilliant surfaces with a pleasing dusting of old-time cabinet patina. Highly elusive when certified as Proof. Ex: 'Colonel' E.H.R. Green; Green Estate' Partnership of Eric P Newman / B.G. Johnson." The second specimen was lot 31872 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $558.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "Gustaf V Proof 50 Ore 1912-W, PR67 NGC. Deeply reflective with speckled russet tone on both sides. A very scarce type with mirrored fields. Ex: 'Colonel' E.H.R. Green; Green Estate' Partnership of Eric P Newman / B.G. Johnson." This type is listed for 1911-19 and 1927-39. The early dates, including this one, are scarce compared to the later dates.
