SB225-11441r.jpg

This specimen was lot 11441 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €288 (about US$300). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 4 Riksdaler Riksmynt, 1863 -ST. Stockholm Mint. Karl XV. NGC Unc Details--Cleaned. Nice Luster. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." In 1855, the skilling was dropped and 100 öre = 4 riksdaler riksmynt = one riksdaler specie (the riksdaler specie remained unchanged). This type of 1861-71 is somewhat common. In 1873, the riksdaler specie was dropped and 100 öre = 1 krona (the krona, at 7.5 g, 0.800 fine silver, was slightly smaller than the old riksdaler riksmynt).

Recorded mintage: 268,000, a common date.

Specification: 34.00 g, 0.750 fine silver, this specimen 33.79 g.

Catalog reference: KM-711, Dav-356; Delzanno-4; SM-16; Bruun-13576.
