Sweden 1857-ST 25 ore
This specimen was lot 11437 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 25 Öre, 1857 - ST. Stockholm Mint. Oscar I. NGC AU Details--Cleaned. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." In 1855, the skilling was dropped and 100 öre = 4 riksdaler riksmynt = one riksdaler specie (the riksdaler specie remained unchanged). This type of 1855-59 is somewhat common. In 1873, the riksdaler specie was dropped and 100 öre = 1 krona (the krona, at 7.5 g, 0.800 fine silver, was slightly smaller than the old riksdaler riksmynt).
Recorded mintage: 1,763,000.
Specification: 2.13 g, 0.750 fine silver, 17.4 mm diameter, this specimen 2.12 g.
